In April of 2015, Ron and Dianne Ganslein acquired Ohio Valley Natural Fibers from Ginny Ferguson. Ginny and her husband Kent (now deceased), started OVNF over 30 years ago. Much like other mills in the US, they worked hard to refurbish older equipment, retain expertise in a declining industry, and deliver a quality product. They were successful in all three.
Ron and Dianne are committed to continuing to deliver a quality product and cater to the needs of small flock growers and fiber enthustasts. They own Klarwasser Farm in Peebles, OH; about 30 minutes east of the mill. They raise Icelandic sheep and Dianne has been a handspinner and fiber nut for many years. They are committed to sustainable farming practices and, in addition to sheep, they raise chickens for eggs and meat, produce and fruit. They hope to build a facility on the farm to house the mill, so vistors can experience a "sheep-to-shawl" operation.
